One day a year or so ago, I received a notification from Reddit pertaining to a thread about the Mousepad web ring. To this day I don’t know how Reddit knew that I would be interested in that post but it was thrilling when I found it!
Sometimes when I think back it’s like the whole thing was a figment of my imagination. I try to tell my grandkids about it and they just don’t get what a BIG DEAL it was to have an internet presence in 1994! We fostered our little mice and built them a home and by doing that we saw the internet potential & helped build it into what it is today! The Reddit thread is validation to me that it’s not just my imagination- it was ground breaking! And when the old mouse kids come back to that thread and remember how it impacted them - I’m humbled and flattered and so so touched to be remembered.
I can NOT believe it’s been 31 years since I got my homestead in Geocities!
So here’s the plan. I’m going to use this blog to reminisce . To give people a place to remember and … to bring back some of the graphics that made the Mousepad tick . In the meantime here’s a link to the original post in Reddit.
